A New Contagion

A New Contagion

We are living at a time when people throughout the world seek to protect themselves from the new
Covid-19 contagion. This contagion, also known as the Corona virus, has impacted everyone on a
personal, national and international level. It has shown no preference to the young or old alike. The
Corona virus targets those with reduced immune systems and compromised lifestyles, making them
more vulnerable in this new pandemic.
Covid-19 is not the first pandemic to impact the world. The Bible records the first pandemic occurred in
the Garden of Eden. (Genesis 3) In a world free from illness or disease, hatred or war, at a time of
complete innocence, sin entered the world and spiraled throughout humanity. No matter what steps we
take to eliminate this contagion, our best efforts are futile because we are born into sin. This was
realized by Apostle Paul who lamented, “For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would
not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.”
(Romans 7:20-21)

How do we get rid of this ageless contagion that affects everyone? We have no remedy, no silver bullet,
no inoculation or natural solution. No matter how we practice social distancing or wear protective
equipment, we are still infected. We have nothing to rid ourselves of this contagion. “But God, not
willing that any should perish” (2 Peter 3:9), provided a remedy. The scripture declares, “For God so
loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him would not perish,
but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
The good news reveals the steps that God took so we can be free of the sin contagion that afflicts the
whole world. The Bible declares, “He who knew no sin became sin, that we might become the
righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21) Jesus paid for our sin on the cross and declared, “it is
finished.” (John 19:30) Because of His atonement, we have peace with God and deliverance from the
contagion of sin. “To as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even
to them that believe on His name. (John 1:12)
Many have died from the Corona virus contagion, but all will die from the sin contagion that afflicts
humanity. It is time to socially distance ourselves from negative people and behaviors. It is time to
eliminate the natural growing appetite which causes us to violate God’s law regarding holiness. It is time
to change our carnal behaviors and learn about God’s plan to redeem humanity. God promises
everlasting life to all who receive Jesus as Lord. He is our only remedy for the contagion called sin.

How much time do you have to accomplish your dream?

How much time do you have to accomplish your dream?

How much time do you have to accomplish your dream?: No one knows. The Greeks have two words to define time. One is called chronos, which is measured time (seconds, minutes, hours, days, etc…) The other is called kairos, which is conditional or based on specific things being in place. Several times in scripture, Jesus said, “my time is not yet.” In other words, certain conditions needed to be met before other things could be accomplished. Many people wait for optimum conditions to exist before they start to pursue their destiny. Remember we have all been given a limited time to accomplish our success. So whatever you are going to do, do it now. This is all the time you have to make it happen.
